Account books and guest registers, 1808-1886.

Registers and account books kept by John Joline and his son, Jon Van Dyke Joline, as hotel proprietors in Princeton, New Brunswick, and Trenton. Volume 1: ledger of personal accounts, 1808-1819; v. 2: ledger of daily transactions, 1818-19; v. 3: ledger of personal accounts of guests, 1820-27; v. 4: ledger of personal accounts of guests, 1835-36, also includes accounts for a drug store or general store, which was attached to the hotel; v. 5: ledger of personal accounts, 1837-38, added accounts throughout 1854-65 at front and back of volume; v. 6: ledger of daily transactions, 1835-39, 1845-1886 [notation on flyleaf "Daybook no. J.V.D. Joline"; v. 7: register of guests, 1844-47, also contains a few accounts for 1832; v. 8: register of guests, 1848-1850.

John Joline ran the Nassau Hotel (also called Joline's) in Princeton, 1808-35; his son ran it 1835-36, and after a brief try in a hotel in New Brunswick, 1837-39, returned to the Nassau Hotel in 1845, and continued there until his removal to the American House Hotel in Trenton in 1857.
